My mission: transition every design studio towards climate action

Over the last year and a half, I've collaborated with number of design studios in the climate space by providing my design, strategy, and UX skills. The work we did supported the mission of their clients, helping their people (customers, visitors, audience, etc) overcome challenges, achieve goals, and take climate action.

This got me thinking, these climate-forward design studios make up a fraction of the overall number of design studios that exist today.

This needs to change.

More and more climate companies, initiatives, and projects are popping up. They are going to need design support. I'm seeing the demand for design go beyond just aesthetics.

Climate-forward clients want purpose-driven design that gets them the support needed to secure funding, grow their audience, and achieve climate goals.

In my experience, not many design studios and designers have the knowledge, resources, and understanding to make better climate-minded design decisions.

My mission now is to help transition every design studio towards climate work.

Since 2016, I’ve been working on climate projects at the intersection of design, strategy, and UX. For six years, I ran a design consultancy helping climate organizations achieve business goals, brand expression, and human engagement.

I'm currently running Climate Designers, a global community of designers across every industry committed to climate action.

I'm bringing my climate experience inside of California College of the Arts where I created and teach a class called Climate Designers as well as run the Social Lab climate track in the CCA MDes Interaction program

With almost a decade of climate knowledge, connections, and resources, plus eight years before that in the social innovation space, I'm bringing everything to the table, holding nothing back when working with design studios and their climate clients.

They way I see it, climate is changing design. Design studios that integrate deep climate understanding will lead the next wave of capital “D” design.

We need every design studio and designer putting climate at the core of their work to contribute towards healing and nurturing our damaged world.
