Why I'm starting ReFrame

People have been asking me, "What's your motivation in starting ReFrame?"

Below is how I answer them.

  1. I'm not seeing the work that needs to be done
    1. I’m seeing more and more of the same climate solutions, approaches, and interventions with a different shade of green. I believe we need to dive deeper into shifting culture and paradigms so that people can go within themselves to see how they show up in the world, how they see themselves in relation to one another, and how they see themselves in relation to other living species. I want to eliminate climate inaction by focusing on behavior change, culture shifts, systems change, and paradigm shifts.
  2. I'm not currently using all my creative tools in my toolkit
    1. Client projects (either working directly with climate orgs or on projects with a design studio) are only tapping into a fraction of my skills and talents. ReFrame will allow me to fully show up, using all of my tools in my toolkit. Something that I’ve been missing for some time now.
  3. I'm lonely and missing consistent collaboration
    1. I love working with different types of creatives and other professionals. I’ve been independent my whole career with a few opportunities working closely with business partners and colleagues on a regular basis. But, for the last couple years, I’ve been missing more consistent, steady collaboration in a profitable setting.
  4. There's a lot of talented people looking for work
    1. I meet at least 2–3 people per week who have been laid off or fired from their "stable" jobs. And what I hear from them is that those jobs weren’t very satisfying. Those folks are now looking at the current state of the world, their current unemployment, and their previous experience and are now wanting to shift into careers that offer more meaning. They want to contribute to something bigger than themselves.
  5. ReFrame can be a job creation platform
    1. Reframe has the bones of a venture studio. The projects and companies that spin out of ReFrame can employ people who are best suited for those projects or companies. I’m still in the process of re-imagining what this model might look like with a focus on positive impact and planetary health. More on that soon.

As of this post, I'm currently looking to build out a core team. Specifically a Business Lead. More soon.
